Affiliate Summit Update
Well, that was easier and more thrilling than I expected it to be.
I published an article yesterday about my intentions to attend the Affiliate Summit conference in Las Vegas. I made a decision to myself to try to seek business to business sponsorships so that I could raise $1,449 for a full conference pass and attend my first major function in the internet and affiliate marketing industry.
This morning there was a new comment on my article from someone named Shawn Collins, suggesting that I might find it easier to apply for a press pass to the event. It sounded like a good idea, but it wasn’t until about three hours later that I realized: Shawn Collins was the co-organizer for the Summit.
So I followed Shawn’s link and applied for the pass. I’ve passed the day writing for my websites, and I spent some time drafting a nice sponsorship letter to send out in case the pass didn’t pan out. Even though I was told when I registered online that applications typically take up to seven days to approve, the response to my application landed in my Gmail box about 20 minutes ago.
It’s official. I’m attending Affiliate Summit in February with a full access press pass, after securing absolutely no sponsorships or spending my own money to register (well, I’ve got travel expenses, but I planned to cover that on my own anyways.)
I’ve said it before, but sometimes growth and opportunities are created when you get outside of your comfort zone and start reaching for something that you might normally expect to be out of your reach.
And I’ve just got to say… big kudos to Shawn Collins and company for making such a philanthropic gesture. It’s almost beyond belief that I was intending to spend nearly $1,500 for a registration, and they could be so generous as to forgo taking the registration fee and allow me to attend their function in this fashion instead.

Congratulations I believe that’s the same method Jer is using to go to the KDE party… Who knew bloggers counted as journalists.
I checked out the links for Affiliate Summit and would love to go myself. I think it looks like a really good opportunity.
@ Ronald - Yeah, I don’t think you need to worry about me not sharing. You’ll be hearing about pretty much everything, my friend.
@ Michelle - Yeah, I’m beyond excited. It should be an amazing time.
@ Chris - it should be an amazing time because you get to meet me in person. LOL
See you in Las Vegas, I followed your lead and applied for a press pass and they approved me last night. Still mulling over the schedule- it’s very hard to decide which sessions to attend.
