Attitude
Like a Mercedes Benz SL60 AMG, entrepreneurs need something to get them going. I’m talking about premium gasoline… what does it take to get you fired up and ready to roll with your business idea?
For me, there’s nothing like sitting down at my desk and turning on a song like Paul Oakenfold’s “Ready, Steady, Go” while I start researching or getting ready to write. Here’s one of my favorite clips, from the movie “Any Given Sunday”. It’s Al Pacino, giving the locker room pep talk that’s referred to as the “Inches” speech. This clip is like steroids for me… maybe it’s because I’m a sports guy at heart, but watching this video gives me an immediate attitude adjustment. Take a watch, and let me know what you think in the comments!

One of the most important things about blogging or running your own business is self motivation. I think you managed to touch on that with this without actually saying “self motivation”. Music is defiantly a key factor of a “pump up” and productivity when I’m working. It gives me a rhythm and more motivation to keep that rhythm up
Motivation. I like to listen to music when doing web development as code and layout have a rather fluid feel to them. Interestingly enough though, when I write (i.e. blog), I prefer silence. If I can’t obtain silence (5 kids - 3 under 4 years old), I’ll put on the headphones and tune to my favorite jungle / ambient station on Pandora for the white noise - singing doesn’t work to well for this as I may be unduly influenced by the words that I hear. No music during the day though, as my wife and I are about 10 feet from one another and we regularly solicit one another’s input and opinion. Getting out of debt so we can get the things that my family deserves - that’s motivation.
i agree, music definitely stimulates the mind and a good song can really get you lost in your work. that’s one tip that everyone should spend some time researching, find a song that really gets you going, and then when you’re stuck with writers block or a similiar productivity stopper, put on the song and see what happens.
