Meet a Blogger - Coolio Jones

I’ve decided to start a series where I feature some of my new blog friends who have been participating here at Chris Bloczynski dot Com. Interviewees will be featured on Saturdays, in no particular order… and to kick things off with the series, I’d like to introduce you to my favorite hustler, Coolio Jones! Coolio is the man behind the curtain at My New Hustle. I’ve enjoyed Coolio’s blog since I started blogging back in July. Here he is, dear readers… Coolio Jones!

* Coolio, how long have you been blogging?
3 months officially, but I did do a small stint last year.

* How do you describe your blog to other people?
A place where you can learn unconventional ways to make money and have fun at the same time.

* What’s your favorite part of being a blogger?
Hmm…the groupies! :) No, I like being able to build a network of like-minded people and helping others.

* Have you got a “9 to 5″ job on top of your blog? What do you do?
I do IT consulting during the other hours of the day when I’m not blogging, sleeping, eating, watching Rocky III or playing Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!

* Do you own any other websites besides your blog?
Yes I do, several in fact. Some are still in developing stages but more info will come forth soon.

* Have you monetized your blog?
Of course! I thought all new bloggers did this? :)

* What monetizaton strategies do you use?
Google AdSense, Kontera, Sponsored Reviews, PayPerPost, and many others that I can’t remember right now.

* What’s your favorite blog to read?
I like the A-Listers and the upstarts, but I won’t name them because then the other ones would get mad at me. :)

* How many blogs do you subscribe to by RSS?
About 7-8.

* Do you do your own technical work, like design, coding, and installing plugins? Have you ever outsourced any work for your blog?
I haven’t outsourced yet, but it is in my plans. Coding is for the birds! I like to do what I do well, then give the rest to others. But for now I do all of my own coding.

* Do you have a mentor? Who do you study?
I study the A-Listers and anyone else who has good ideas and thoughts. Steve Pavlina is officially the one who inspired me to start blogging.

* What’s one thing you wish you would have done differently starting out?
Started a huge beef with John Chow so I could get more hits. :) No really, I really, really wish I started much, much sooner.

* Do you have any new projects planned in the near future?
Yes I do, but I’m not ready to announce them yet. One is slated for 2007 holiday release. Also I could do a parody site called ‘My Old Hustle’ and list a whole bunch of has-beens, such as Gary Coleman, Blossom, and Alf. (Or just watch ‘The Surreal Life’)

* What do you most hope to accomplish with your blog?
I always tell people, 10k/mo. That is the official target. In addition, I would like to bring about world peace and an end to horrible American Idol contestants!

Thanks for your answers, Coolio! If you’ve liked reading about Coolio Jones, then I recommend that you stop by and visit him at My New Hustle. If you’d like to be featured in the weekly Meet a Blogger series, then use my contact page to let me know, and I’ll email you a set of questions.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
